#FourteenDaysofLoveDevotional - day one

1 JOHN 4:7-8 AMP

7.Beloved, let us [unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God; and everyone

who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience].

8. The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]

When I read this scripture, I think of relationship with The Father, love I give to others, but also the love I give myself. Many moments I didn’t see the best in me, I’m working on giving myself grace, and I challenge you to do the same. We won't get it right all the time; The Lord knows! He loves us enough to let us try again. It's like when you were a baby learning to walk, you fall over and over, yet you continued until you found a firm foundation. Look at you now, running and being great!

The last part of this scripture really sticks out to me:

“…God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]

ENDURING (long lasting). ATTRIBUTE (characteristic). NATURE (inherent feature).

The Father’s love is a long lasting characteristic of His inherent feature. So since The Father gave His love to Jesus, it is only right that we (sons and daughters) inherent the same love, and greater. His love is freely given (no matter what), the greatest (1 Corinthians 13:13 AMP), and long lasting.
